About Us

Art of Pilates, Inc. is located in the quaint town of Playa del Rey, about 1 block from the beach. A charming, quiet, and peaceful place within the heart of LA, our studio emphasizes privacy and individual attention.

Our full range of equipment includes: Reformers, a Cadillac, Wunda Chair, rotating discs, foam rollers, Yamuna footsavers, Bosu Balance Trainer and MasterStretch boots which will assist in educating and strengthening your body.

Our goal is to provide a place that is conducive to learning about your body and enjoying the whole process.

Rochelle Rochelle

Rochelle was certified with her Advances in Pilates Technique through LBDC and the Movement Academy with the well-respected Marie-Jose' Blom-Lawrence. Rochelle focuses on teaching a style of Pilates that will help clients gain strength, flexibility, and coordination in a safe and effective way. Before opening her own studio, Rochelle worked with a physical therapist in Beverly Hills in applying Pilates technique for rehabilitation. She also spent her time working with clients at their homes, teaching at various studio and teaching Seniors for over 5 years in Santa Monica.

Rochelle continues her own Pilates practice on a regular basis since she believes you must continue to challenge and educate yourself to learn and grow. Rochelle also practices Iyengar Yoga regularly. She has been studying Iyengar Yoga for years and continues her education with courses like a Deep Practice Iyengar Intensive as well as a 3 month Self Practice Iyengar. Rochelle received an additional Pre and Post Natal Certification through Jennifer Gianni. In addition to Pilates and Yoga she has had experience in Gyrotonics, The Alexander Technique, and Hellerwork. Being open to new forms of movement helps Rochelle to evaluate what other techniques may help her clients.

Rochelle is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance (http://www.pilatesmethodalliance.org) which is a not-for-profit organization professional association dedicated to the teachings of Joseph H. and Clara Pilates.

Sarafina Sarafina

Sarafina is a certified Pilates instructor who received her training with Balanced Body and Trident Fitness in 2006. She has a strong dance background, specializing in ballet. She keeps herself active in various sports such as beach volleyball and soccer and brings this athletic approach into her teaching style with Pilates. Sarafina has also worked at a Physical Therapy where she has gained knowledge in helping clients to rehabilitate from injuries.

Whitney Whitney

Whitney grew up Manhattan Beach and has been involved in athletics since a very young age. She played volleyball competitively at the age of 9 and continued to play all the way through college. Conditioning, nutrition and exercise have always been a lifestyle for Whitney. She has a passion for the body and learning the anatomy of movement. It didn't take her long to realize that Pilates isn't just an exercise, but a way a life. She received her Pilates Certification through the most highly accredited, Marie Jose by Long Beach Dance Conditioning. She demonstrates an ability to show warmth and care for each client but at the same time has the drive to help you achieve an intense workout.

Kimberly - Assistant

Kimberly joined Art of Pilates in May of 2009 to help assist with the studio's daily tasks. She is an integral part to keeping the studio running smoothly. Pilates has become part of her weekly exercise routine and she has established a deep passion for it and now considers it a lifestyle. As a former swimmer and always a dedicated runner, she finds that Pilates brings the perfect balance to her workout regime. Kimberly graduated from LMU in May 2009 with a Communication Studies degree, which has influenced her willingness to market and advertise the studio in various ways. She is continuing on at LMU as a graduate student, to attain her Masters in Secondary Education.
