About Us

Art of Pilates, Inc. is located in the quaint town of Playa del Rey, about 1 block from the beach. A charming, quiet, and peaceful place within the heart of LA, our studio emphasizes privacy and individual attention.

Our full range of equipment includes: Reformers, a Cadillac, Wunda Chair, rotating discs, foam rollers, Yamuna footsavers, Bosu Balance Trainer and MasterStretch boots which will assist in educating and strengthening your body.

Our goal is to provide a place that is conducive to learning about your body and enjoying the whole process.

Rochelle Rochelle

Rochelle was certified with her Advances in Pilates Technique through LBDC and the Movement Academy with the well-respected Marie-Jose' Blom-Lawrence. Rochelle focuses on teaching a style of Pilates that will help clients gain strength, flexibility, and coordination in a safe and effective way. Before opening her own studio, Rochelle worked with a physical therapist in Beverly Hills in applying Pilates technique for rehabilitation. She also spent her time working with clients at their homes, teaching at various studio and teaching Seniors for over 5 years in Santa Monica.

Rochelle continues her own Pilates practice on a regular basis since she believes you must continue to challenge and educate yourself to learn and grow. Rochelle also practices Iyengar Yoga regularly. She has been studying Iyengar Yoga for years and continues her education with courses like a Deep Practice Iyengar Intensive as well as a 3 month Self Practice Iyengar. Rochelle received an additional Pre and Post Natal Certification through Jennifer Gianni. In addition to Pilates and Yoga she has had experience in Gyrotonics, The Alexander Technique, and Hellerwork. Being open to new forms of movement helps Rochelle to evaluate what other techniques may help her clients.

Rochelle is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance (http://www.pilatesmethodalliance.org) which is a not-for-profit organization professional association dedicated to the teachings of Joseph H. and Clara Pilates.

Sara

Sara is a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor. Sara was certified in Advances in Pilates Technique through LBDC by Marie Jose Blom-Lawrence. It was at LBDC that she enhanced her knowledge of anatomy and physiology, injury prevention, and injury treatment. She also received a yoga certification from Ginger-La Roche Roth, former owner of InYoga studio. This training greatly emphasized that to be a teacher is not simply to relay information and teach sequence; rather, it is to relate to the hearts of the students, as well as their bodies, and to inspire.

Sara currently teaches at various studios and additionally has taught master classes at LMU, for Meh-Tropolis Dance Theatre. Sara's teaching style combines passion and playfulness with a deep curiosity and knowledge about the body. She creates classes and private sessions where one encounters challenge and growth in a lighthearted and safe environment. In addition to being a teacher Sara is a professional dancer.

Sarafina Sarafina

Sarafina is a certified Pilates instructor who received her training with Balanced Body and Trident Fitness in 2006. She has a strong dance background, specializing in ballet. She keeps herself active in various sports such as beach volleyball and soccer and brings this athletic approach into her teaching style with Pilates. Sarafina has also worked at a Physical Therapy where she has gained knowledge in helping clients to rehabilitate from injuries.

Physical Therapist

We have a Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer at our studio.

Frank brings many years of experience in sports medicine and rehabilitation while involved U.S.C., N.F.L., N.B.A., and renowned orthopedic surgeons Dr. Robert Kerlan and Dr. Frank Jobe.
The cumulative advantage of blending Physical Medicine, Pilates and Sports Medicine offers a wealth of aide with your well being and rehabilitation.
